What is Digital Signage?

Digital signage is typically controlled by a content management system (CMS) that allows users to create, schedule, and distribute content across multiple screens from a single location. This enables businesses and organizations to deliver targeted messages to specific audiences at the right time and in the right place.

To do this you just need a ChromeOS Device/Management licenses and to identify if you will be displaying your content via Chrome Sign Builder, Google Slide, or by utilizing a CMS provider.

How do I deploy digital signage?

Deploying digital signage is easy, but you will need some hardware and software. Here’s what you need to get started.

Hardware

For hardware, you need a display for playing the digital signage and a Chrome device for storage.

  • A display: The display is the screen you want your videos, slides, and images to show up on. This is usually a television or computer screen, and you can make both touchscreen and non-touchscreen displays into digital signs. The screen display should have a 1080p output over HDMI and DisplayPort access.
  • A Chrome device: This is the device where your digital signage files will be stored on. For digital signage, we recommend using a Chromebox. A Chromebox is a small form-factor PC that runs the same OS as a Chromebook. You can purchase Chromeboxes from our online store here.

Software

For software, you need a Chrome license and a Chrome kiosk app.

  • Chrome Enterprise Upgrade (one per Chrome device): A Chrome Management license is used to configure settings and enforce policies across your Chrome devices. One of the biggest benefits of a Chrome license is that it allows you to manage all your devices remotely. You can purchase Chrome Enterprise Upgrades on our online store here, or you can contact Promevo.
  • Chrome kiosk app: You can use a Chrome kiosk app you create or a Chrome kiosk app from the Chrome Web Store. A popular kiosk app for digital signage is Chrome Sign Builder. To download Chrome Sign Builder click here.

Once you have all your hardware and software, you can enroll your device into your domain and start using Chrome Sign Builder.
